Knowledge of foreign languages always broadens both your intellectual and professional horizons. Those who learn German gain access to an important intellectual, economic and culturally historic area of Central Europe. No matter which career you choose, the ability to converse and to negotiate in another language will be regarded as an obvious basic skill.  The awareness of other cultures and a European consciousness, developed through modern language study, are also valued by employers.

Three written examination papers, plus a speaking examination. The written papers comprise 75% of the overall marks.

CONTENT                All papers will cover the following five themes:

                                   1. Identity and culture

                                   2. Local area, holiday, travel

                                   3. School

                                   4. Future aspirations, study and work

                                   5. International and global dimension.

45 minute paper including 5 minutes reading time. 25% of total qualification. Externally assessed.
