The team flew into Katmandu before departing for the project phase at Shree Mahendra Shanti Secondary School, near Bhaktapur.  Girls turned their hand to basic construction work, painting and decorating classrooms, as well as to leading creative activities with the children.  The voluntary work completed (and rewarded with a Certificate of Appreciation), they set off on the physical phase of the expedition with a trek in the Poon Hill region.

All these exertions behind them, they spent a few relaxing days in Pokhara, which marked the beginning of the cultural phase. The team explored underground caves, rushing waterfalls and many temples before heading back to Katmandu. Armed with gifts and souvenirs – and with memories that will last a lifetime - they returned to Redbridge to regale family and friends with their adventures and, in many cases, to pick up their examination results.  We look forward to hearing their tales from Nepal in due course.
