In July, 30 students took part in Woodford’s inaugural Music tour to Belgium – a brand new venture designed to give the school’s senior musical ensembles the chance to perform to international audiences. The Orchestra, Senior Choir, Jazz Band and Brass Band travelled to Ghent, Ostend and Bruges, where they performed in outdoor venues to local audiences, and enjoyed a taste of the culture of the area. A particular highlight was a concert at the internationally-renowned GentFest musical festival, which not only gave the students the opportunity to perform on a professional-standard stage (complete with sound equipment and lighting) but also to be the warm-up act to rock group Slade!
