Dear Parents/Carers of Year 13 students
Year 13 parent information webinar – supporting your child through the exam season
As noted in my previous email earlier this week, we will be running a webinar for Year 13 parents from 5-6pm next Wednesday, 22nd April, to offer advice and guidance around supporting your child through the upcoming exam season. This webinar will be lead by me, as Head of Sixth Form, alongside colleagues from the Redbridge Mental Health Support Team, and will cover practical and logistical considerations around exams, as well as guidance around supporting students’ mental health during this potentially stressful period.
We are pleased to share that we will be introducing a monthly virtual parent webinar series designed to support and inform our school community on key topics throughout the year.
Our first session will take place on 29 January 6pm - 7pm and will focus on:
Today, Woodford County High School proudly celebrated its 106th birthday with a full day of exciting activities and events for students across all year groups.
The day began with students bringing in the delicious cakes they had baked at home for the Cake Competition, which were displayed in SG8 for everyone to admire. Meanwhile, Year 11 set off for an adventure at Thorpe Park, and Year 10 headed to Rollerbowl, both trips promising fun filled experiences.
At 9:00am, the traditional Parade of Banners took place, featuring Years 7, 8, 9, and 13. This parade proudly showcased banners created by students both past and present, highlighting the creativity and school spirit of generations of pupils.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students, who received their A Level results last week. Their hard work and resilience have paid off, with an outstanding 48% of all grades awarded at A-A* and 78% at A-B*. Impressively, the most common grade achieved was an A.
Woodford awarded Gold Accreditation for our use of VC across the school, especially for our exceptional use of content to expand the global reach of our curriculum.
Each year, a team of WCHS Sixth Form students join the Young Reporter scheme, which gives school students an opportunity to write for a real online newspaper.
We are proud to be an 'Equally Safe' school!
