Head of Design & Technology

MPS/UPS (Outer London) & TLR

Required for September 2026

We are looking for a head of Design & Technology to lead on KS3 Product Design, KS3 Electronics & KS4 DT GCSE. The role does not currently include KS5 DT teaching & learning. The role will, unfortunately, not be suitable for ECT’s.

Person Specification:

You must:

  • Be creative, imaginative, innovative, reflective and forward thinking.
  • Have a vision for DT as a subject fit for the 21st century, based on problem solving.
  • Have a vision for how to further develop a DT curriculum fit for the 21st century.
  • Be able to inspire students, support, encourage and develop their creative response.
  • Be passionate about design and how good design can, and should, improve life.
  • Be collaborative and capable of communicating and working as part of a small team.
  • Be IT competent [Word, Outlook, Excel, 2D Design, and specialist software where needed].
  • Previous professional design sector experience would be an advantage.
