It is no exaggeration to say that choosing the right school for your children is as important a decision as parenthood entails. In browsing our website, you have taken a very positive step towards successfully negotiating the task.
Woodford County High School for Girls enjoys an enviable reputation for intellectual, artistic and sporting achievements. In all of these domains, and others beside, we encourage and support our students in exploring their own potential, nurturing existing talents and interests and discovering new ones along the way.
Proud of the fact that we are a happy and cohesive community, we see it as a major part of our purpose to prepare young people for the roles and responsibilities which will be theirs as adult members of a wider society.
We like to think not only of Woodford students but also of their parents as our partners rather than our clients: collaborators in a single common cause. We hope you will find that philosophy an attractive one and we look forward to the possibility of working with you and your daughter.
It goes without saying that an exploration of even the best school website can offer no more than a glimpse of the school itself. If our web site has done its job you will now be keen to come and see us for yourselves and we hope that that is exactly what you will do.

Woodford County High School is the only selective girls’ school in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is a Community School and therefore all matters relating to admissions in Year 7 – 11 are handled by the Redbridge Admissions Office. Their telephone number for secondary transfer is 0208 708 3139 or 020 8708 3129 for all other year groups.
Woodford County High School is heavily oversubscribed. Redbridge operates a catchment area policy and girls who live within the designated area (and who perform sufficiently well in the selection tests) have priority for admission. Admissions Testing takes place in September each year.
