Meet Winston- Our Woodford Bear
   Meet Winston

The ‘PFA’ exists to provide closer links between home and school and to bring parents, staff and friends together socially in support of a common cause.  It has been an integral part of the Woodford Community for many years and has raised many thousands of pounds to finance enrichment opportunities and resources that the school budget cannot meet.

All parents of Woodford students are automatically members and are invited to join the Committee, to pitch in and help with the organisation of events, or simply to turn up and enjoy them.  Meetings are friendly and informal, and new faces – and the ideas and skills that come with them – are always welcome.

Our PFA Committee has four Trustees who hold the offices of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.  The Headteacher, Ms Jo Pomeroy, is PFA President and attends meetings.  We also have between 10 and 15 Committee members ‘without portfolio’, making anything up to 20 in all.  The Committee meets on a regular basis - usually twice per term - with smaller working groups meeting as necessary when larger events are being planned.

Our Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of the academic year, and provides an opportunity for all parents to hear in more detail about the work of the PFA, the events we have run, the funds we have raised, and how the money has been spent.  It is also the occasion when we elect our Trustees.

The PFA calendar is made up of its regular events (e.g. a welcome reception for new Year 7 parents, the Christmas and Summer Fairs, Table Top Sales, etc) and of new initiatives such as a Year 7 Halloween Sleepover and Woodford’s Got Talent (Pre Covid).
