Celebrating School Birthday

School Birthday draws Old Girls back to Woodford every year.  WCHS now has a much higher complement of pupils than most of us will remember and it cannot accommodate even half of them in the Assembly Hall.  This means that Old Girls can no longer attend School’s Birthday Assembly.  However, all former pupils are welcome to attend the Birthday Tea hosted by the Old Girls’ Association and held on the last Saturday in September.  A modest charge is made (payable on the door), but for catering purposes we do need to know how many people plan to attend.

The Tea is preceded by a short AGM (held in the former Gym) together with a report from the Head Teacher on what has been happening at WCHS during the year.

Members of the OGA will receive an invitation to the Tea and AGM in their annual newsletter but all ex-pupils are welcome to attend, so long as we know to expect you!

How do I reserve my tea place?

Either return your invitation slip which you will find in the newsletter, or send an email to reserve your place (catering.wchsoga@gmail.com). This applies to both members and non-members.

If you are not already a member and wish to become one, please use the application form on the adjoining page ‘OGA Newsletter / Membership’ or follow this link.

When did YOU leave Woodford?

Whether or not you have a special year coming up for your year group, do consider organising a reunion and include meeting friends at the OGA Birthday Tea. What better way to take a trip down memory lane than traversing the iron gates, making your way through the twisty passage and soaking in the atmosphere of Woodford that remains pervasive, despite the many changes and modifications over the years.  Whilst you enjoy a wander around the School, the OGA can reserve a special ‘Birthday Table’ for you to sit together for tea and in the words of our iconic school song 'look back, and forgetfully wonder what you were like in your work and your play'.  A perfect way to catch up with old friends and remember your Woodford days, be it 1 year, 5 years or indeed 40 years on, or more!
