In November the houses compete to perform the best musical production in our House Drama festival. This is perhaps the most hotly-contested competition of them all. The productions are entirely adapted, acted, sung and directed by the girls, who also have to play the instrumental music live – pre-recorded backing tracks are not allowed. In 2017 the productions were Tangled (Highams), Matilda (Newton), The Nightmare Before Christmas (Repton) and Moulin Rouge (Warner). The performances are judged by three professionals in the fields of production, acting and music and following the event there is an Oscars-style award ceremony. This year’s winner for Best Production was Repton.
