36 hours per week (8.00am – 4.00pm): Term-time only

It is also an expanding school.  A key element of our developing provision is building the capacity of our guidance and learning support teams.  Together these colleagues work to promote the highest standards of behaviour, to support those who are in any way vulnerable or at risk, and those who have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

All students at Woodford are entitled to access the full curriculum.   SEND numbers are not high but needs are varied and require us to have the staffing flexibility to provide appropriate mentoring and learning support as necessary.   The person appointed will work with the SENDCO to meet these needs and with our Student Guidance Officer (SGO) to promote high standards of behaviour and to support our more vulnerable students.

The person appointed will have the confidence and experience to deal kindly but firmly with young people, recognising and responding to varying needs and exercising judgement in making decisions.  The ability to maintain a high level of professional confidentiality is a prerequisite.  

This will be a varied role, comprising, but not confined to:

- providing individualised mentoring, monitoring and where necessary classroom support to      students with Special Educational Needs

- supporting our Student Guidance Officer in providing a first response to urgent situations        involving students

-  providing first aid (as one of a team of trained first aiders)

Experience of working with young people in a public service environment is desirable though not essential.  Training, including  First Aid and Safeguarding, will be provided as required.
